Dr Awanthika Fernando is a dedicated General Practitioner with a special interest in providing holistic, patient-centred care across all stages of life. She completed her MBBS in Sri Lanka in 2019 and gained valuable clinical experience over four years working in diverse healthcare settings before relocating to Australia in 2023. Dr Fernando is currently completing the final components of her Graduate Diploma in Child Health while continuing her general practice training pathway.
Dr Fernando supports individuals and families with a broad range of health needs, with a focus on preventative health, chronic disease management, and continuity of care. She takes a thoughtful and evidence-based approach to consultations, working collaboratively with patients to support informed decision-making and long-term health outcomes. She has a particular interest in geriatrics and is committed to supporting older adults in maintaining their independence and quality of life.
Fluent in both Sinhala and English, Dr Fernando provides inclusive care to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. Outside of practice, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and caring for indoor plants.
